Palermo 1/200
Teatro Massimo
Try to imagine if in the pixels imprinted on the icon A Palermo façade was sectioned like an architectural body under a clinical light, and the solids and voids of the arches were filled with slabs of warm yellow, dark red, clear blue like glass superimposed on a black and white memory. The steps rise with a solemn slowness, and the order of the columns seems to contain, with discipline, an energy that wants to explode out of the margins. In this tension between monumentality and chromatic fracture, the most coherent reference is the Teatro Massimo: not as a postcard, but as a scenic machine of the city, where the classic becomes visual power and power becomes representation. The work seems to remind us that Palermo is never a single layer: under the rigor of the stone a plural city remains, and those panels of color are like wings that change scenes, evoking the urban theatricality that spills out from the monumental heart towards the streets.
